What is H2Global?

H2Global is a market-driven initiative designed to foster the development of sustainable green markets and mobilize private capital for green investments.

At the heart of H2Global is Hintco, a Green Market Maker which operates as a trader in nascent green markets. Hintco bridges the gap between supply and demand by trading clean, hydrogen-based molecules using the innovative H2Global double-auction model.

After a successful first auction in 2024, a second H2Global tender was announced in February 2025. Participation is open to bidders around the world planning to produce RFNBOs that meet the sustainability and GHG criteria defined in the Delegated Regulations (EU) 2023/1184 and 2023/1185.

RFNBO Precertification

Successful bidders will be required to undergo precertification under one of the Commission-recognized voluntary schemes, such as CertifHy. Evidence of validation, as well as another GHG emissions calculation based on the most recent planning data, shall be submitted to H2Global.

RFNBO precertification

CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme

To ensure compliance with the EU RFNBO requirements, producers participating under the H2Global mechanism will be required to continuously issue Proofs of Sustainability (PoS) based on valid certification by one of the Commission-recognised voluntary schemes.

Post-commissioning, facilities can fulfil continuous compliance and PoS requirements using the recognized CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme.

A self-assessment of your certification-readiness must be submitted alongside your initial bid to participate.

The CertifHy RFNBO Training for Economic Operators will advance your grasp of the EU RFNBO criteria, covering both regulatory and technical topics, supporting your self-assessment.

The course includes 6+ hours of pre-recorded content, one-time access to a live Q&A Masterclass, and written study materials.

Full RFNBO Precertification
