Brussels, 26/05/26 – CertifHy and GH2 India today announced the signature of a partnership to support hydrogen certification readiness in India and provide practical resources for Indian project developers and market participants interested in accessing the EU market for RFNBO molecules. The collaboration begins with the promotion of CertifHy Academy in India and is designed to evolve into a broader knowledge partnership supporting the development of India’s renewable hydrogen and e-fuels ecosystem.

Through this collaboration, GH2 India will distribute CertifHy’s RFNBO certification training to Indian market participants, while CertifHy will provide course content through its existing e-learning platform. The organizations also intend to jointly develop India-focused resources and knowledge-sharing activities to help project developers and industry stakeholders better understand the EU RFNBO certification requirements, data and evidence expectations, and audit procedures.

Nishaanth Balashanmugam, CEO and Director of GH2 India, and Matthieu Boisson, Managing Director at CertifHy, shake hands after signing a partnership agreement at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, formalizing a collaboration to support RFNBO certification readiness and hydrogen market development in India.

The Partnership: Building Certification Knowledge for India’s Hydrogen Market

CertifHy is a frontrunner in the certification of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen and e-fuels. It actively operates two certification schemes, the CertifHy EU RFNBO Voluntary Scheme and the CertifHy Non-Governmental Certification (NGC) Scheme, and supports capacity building through CertifHy Academy and Working Groups 1 & 2 of its Stakeholder Platform, helping market participants navigate the evolving landscape of hydrogen and e-fuels certification.

GH2 India will contribute its local market knowledge, stakeholder network, and understanding of India’s emerging hydrogen ecosystem. Together, CertifHy and GH2 India aim to make certification knowledge more accessible to Indian producers, project developers, investors, and other stakeholders preparing for international hydrogen markets, namely those seeking to gain entry to the EU market for RFNBO molecules.

The Solution: Practical Resources for Project Developers

As India accelerates the deployment of RFNBO hydrogen projects, certification is becoming a key element of project readiness, bankability, and market access. The collaboration will therefore go beyond training promotion. CertifHy and GH2 India intend to explore tailored resources for Indian stakeholders, including India-focused guidance materials and in-country Q&A sessions. The objective is to provide Indian participants an opportunity to discuss key certification questions in the context of India’s market development and international trade ambitions.

“India is rapidly becoming a global powerhouse for renewable hydrogen and e-fuels development, and certification will be essential for project readiness,” said Matthieu Boisson, Managing Director at CertifHy. “This collaboration starts with knowledge, but the ambition is broader: to work with GH2 India and Indian industry to build a fit-for-purpose framework that will help Indian stakeholders achieve EU certification when they need it the most.”

Supporting Cross-Border Hydrogen Trade

Understanding certification frameworks is becoming increasingly important for producers seeking to demonstrate the renewable attributes of hydrogen and its derivatives, meet offtaker requirements, and access premium export markets. For Indian project developers interested in exporting RFNBO molecules to the EU, early familiarity with the RFNBO rules and certification practices can help avoid late-stage compliance issues and support stronger commercial positioning.

Nishaanth Balashanmugam, CEO and Director of GH2 India, added:

“India’s hydrogen export ambitions rest on robust certification mechanisms and deep understanding of global frameworks. By working with CertifHy, we aim to support the Indian ecosystem with the right knowledge and tools to ensure long-term trust and sustainability in these projects.”
