Jakson Green Gopalpur Private Limited’s Green Ammonia Project Awarded Precertification Under the CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme
Brussels, Belgium, 31st of July 2026 – CertifHy, a leading scheme operator for renewable and low-carbon hydrogen and e-fuels certification, announces that Jakson Green Gopalpur Private Limited’s (JGGPL) renewable hydrogen and green ammonia project in Gopalpur, Odisha, India, has successfully achieved precertification under the CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme.
The project is designed as a renewable hydrogen and ammonia facility with the intention of targeting both global and domestic markets. Located in Gopalpur, Odisha, India, the project is expected to include an electrolyzer bank and a Haber-Bosch synthesis loop with a nameplate production capacity of 600 metric tons of green ammonia per day.
Supporting Future Access to Global Markets
The project intends to target commercial operations being targeted for FY 2029-2030.
The precertification exercise assessed the project’s anticipated alignment with the requirements applicable under the CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme for Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBOs), as defined under the European Union regulatory framework, including the Renewable Energy Directive and its Delegated Regulations.
By undergoing precertification at an early development stage, JGGPL reinforces the project’s credibility toward investors, offtakers and future commercial partners seeking assurance regarding future alignment with European RFNBO requirements. We believe this exercise provides third parties with confidence regarding the project’s anticipated certification readiness and demonstrates commitment towards compliance with the European regulatory framework.
A Strategic Tool for Project Development and Market Positioning
As per CertifHy, Precertification is increasingly used by renewable hydrogen and ammonia developers as a strategic instrument to support Final Investment Decisions (FID), facilitate discussions with investors and offtakers, and strengthen positioning toward export markets requiring compliance with European sustainability requirements.
The precertification exercise combined an audit assessment conducted by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance), acting as a Cooperating Certification Body under the CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme, together with advisory support provided by Hinicio.

About CertifHy: Founded in 2014, CertifHy is a frontrunner in the realm of renewable hydrogen and e-fuels’ certification, providing a comprehensive suite of tools to empower stakeholders engaged in the energy transition. It operates two schemes — the CertifHy EU Voluntary Scheme (RFNBO Scope and Low-Carbon Scope) and the CertifHy Non-Governmental Certificate (NGC) Scheme — which aims to verify the sustainability and origin of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen and its derivatives. CertifHy also offers precertification, which familiarises companies with the data collection and documentation processes required for official certification, and an in-house e-learning platform — CertifHy Academy — to equip Economic Operators and Certification Bodies with the expertise needed to navigate the complex landscape of hydrogen certification. It fosters collaboration through its Stakeholder Platform, which invites representatives of the industry, government, and academia to shape the future development of hydrogen certification systems. Together, CertifHy’s robust certification schemes and knowledge-building resources pave the way for a cleaner energy future.
