Brussels – 17/04/2025 – CertifHy is proud to announce the first-ever certification under its EU RFNBO Scheme, delivered to Tyczka Hydrogen, a key player in the European hydrogen value chain. The certificate was officially issued on 15 April 2025 by TÜV SÜD, a CertifHy-recognized Certification Body.
Tyczka Hydrogen, a subsidiary of the Tyczka Group, operates across the full hydrogen value chain—from green hydrogen production to compression, filling, transport, and application technology. With more than 100 years of experience in supplying industrial and energy gases, the company plays a pivotal role in enabling the transition towards a decarbonised economy.

This certification validates Tyczka Hydrogen’s compliance with the ambitious requirements of the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) for Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBOs). It confirms that their trading and distribution operations qualify under EU rules as contributing to the delivery of renewable hydrogen and e-fuels to the market.
“Tyczka Hydrogen is now the first energy trader to be certified under any of the recognized voluntary schemes for RFNBOs, setting an important precedent,” said Matthieu Boisson, Managing Director at CertifHy. “This highlights the essential role of certified energy carriers and traders in bringing renewable hydrogen to where it is needed.”
“This is an important milestone, not only for Tyczka Hydrogen, but for the entire European hydrogen industry. We have eagerly anticipated this step for several years now and are happy that our team has achieved this certification in record time!” adds Tyczka Hydrogen’s Managing Director Thomas Zorn.
As a facilitator between producers and consumers, Tyczka Hydrogen ensures that certified renewable hydrogen can be traded and transported reliably and efficiently across Europe. The recognition reinforces the company’s commitment to high-quality standards, sustainability, and the development of a mature hydrogen market.
Details of the certificate are publicly available via the CertifHy website: https://www.certifhy.eu/certificates-database/
About CertifHy
Founded in 2014, CertifHy is a frontrunner in the realm of renewable hydrogen and e-fuels’ certification, providing a comprehensive suite of tools to empower stakeholders engaged in the energy transition. It operates two schemes — the CertifHy EU Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) Voluntary Scheme and the CertifHy Non-Governmental Certificate (NGC) Scheme — which aim to verify the sustainability and origin of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen and its derivatives. CertifHy also offers pre-certification, which familiarizes companies with the data collection and documentation process required for official certification, and an in-house learning platform — CertifHy Academy — to equip Economic Operators and Certification Bodies with the expertise needed to navigate the complex landscape of hydrogen certification. It fosters collaboration through its Stakeholder Platform, which invites representatives of the industry, government, and academia to shape the future development of hydrogen certification systems. Together, CertifHy’s robust certification schemes and knowledge-building resources pave the way for a cleaner energy future.
